A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Türkiye’s Aegean towns, including Izmir and Balikesir, on Tuesday night, Türkiye‘s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced.

The earthquake, which occurred off the coast of the Aegean Sea, was felt in several cities, including Canakkale, Izmir, and Balikesir.

The epicenter of the quake was reported to be 6.62 kilometers from Ayvacik, a district of Canakkale, and the earthquake occurred at a depth of 8.65 kilometers.

The earthquake in the Aegean Sea was also felt in Izmir.

Canakkale Governor Omer Toraman made a statement on his social media account, noting that no adverse incidents had been reported, and said:

“Following the 5.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Ayvacik in the Aegean Sea, our relevant units have started field inspections, and so far, no adverse conditions have been reported. Our teams are on duty in the field.”

Meanwhile, AFAD reported that no adverse conditions have been detected following the 5.2 magnitude earthquake in the Aegean Sea.
