Pigossi, Kozyreva claim Istanbul Open doubles title as singles final set

Laura Pigossi and Maria Kozyreva claimed the doubles title at the Istanbul Open tennis tournament on Saturday, defeating Anastasia Detiuc and Makoto Ninomiya 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 in a three-set final.

The WTA 125 event, held at the Türkiye Tennis Federation (TTF) Istanbul Tennis Training Center from May 4 to 10, saw the Pigossi-Kozyreva pair secure the championship with a decisive match tiebreak in the deciding set.

The trophies were presented by TTF President Safak Muderrisgil, TTF Deputy President Hakan Erturk, and TTF Board Member Eda Sevaioglu Tan.

Singles final set

The tournament's singles final will see top seed Donna Vekic of Croatia face sixth seed Maria Timofeeva of Uzbekistan.

Vekic advanced to the final after defeating Spanish player Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 26 minutes.

Timofeeva secured her place in the final with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 victory over French player Alice Tubello.

The singles final is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. local time and will be broadcast live on TRT Spor Yildiz.
