Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed efforts to bring back Ukrainians held in Russian captivity with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during a meeting in Abu Dhabi Monday.

The UAE has been instrumental in facilitating the return of Ukrainians, including many children, who were deported to Russia during the ongoing war.

Zelenskyy emphasized that one of his main priorities during the visit was to ensure more Ukrainians could return home from captivity.

Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE’s commitment to supporting a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and addressing its humanitarian challenges.

In a related development, U.S. and Russian officials are set to meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days for talks aimed at finding a path to end the war.
