‘Moment of historic opportunity,’ says Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday called the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime a “moment of historic opportunity” for Syria.

“The fall of the regime is a fundamental act of justice,” Biden said in a statement from the White House.

“It’s a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria,” he underlined.

“At long last, the Assad regime has fallen. This regime brutalized, tortured, and killed literally hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians. The regime’s fall is a fundamental act of justice,” he added.
