A U.S.-owned cargo ship has reported a “missile strike” near Yemen and has requested military aid, as per maritime security company Ambrey’s statement Monday.

British ship attack
Yemeni naval forces successfully targeted and neutralized a British oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, marking the third consecutive attack on U.K. vessels within four days.
“The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces … carried out an effective military operation, targeting a British ship in the Gulf of Aden, RUBYMAR, with several naval missiles,” Yemeni army spokesperson Yahya Saree said in a statement.
“The ship was seriously damaged, causing it to stop completely. As a result of the extensive damage the ship suffered, it is now at risk of sinking in the Gulf of Aden. We ensured the ship’s crew exited safely during the operation,” Saree added.
British maritime officials have initiated an inquiry regarding accounts of an explosion near a British freighter on Sunday.
