The U.S. government has announced another military aid package for Ukraine. According to the U.S. Department of State, this assistance will come from the Defense Department’s inventory.

The aid will include additional ammunition for HIMARS, artillery shells, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank missiles, guided TOW missiles, as well as ambulances, demolition and medical equipment, and training services.

The announcement highlights the U.S. commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russia as the country celebrates its 33rd anniversary of independence.

Since Russia’s unilateral invasion of Ukraine in February 2021, the war has drawn widespread international condemnation and rallied U.S. and allied support for Kyiv. The U.S. has led a coalition in supplying Ukraine with billions in military aid and imposing extensive sanctions on Russia.

In 2023, Ukraine achieved notable successes with a major counter-offensive in the east. However, it experienced a major setback with the loss of Avdiivka in central Donetsk province in February, marking its most significant defeat in months.
