Ukrainian ambassador highlights Türkiye’s role in mediation efforts
As his term in Türkiye comes to an end, Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar praised Türkiye for its pivotal role in mediating during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and highlighted the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.

In an interview, Bodnar emphasized that Türkiye was the only country able to bring warring parties to the negotation table. He referred to Türkiye as a “regional leader” and vital strategic partner for Ukraine.
“Türkiye’s efforts in mediation have been exceptional, and its influence extends both regionally and globally,” Bodnar stated.

“The warm reception of Ukrainian refugees and the care extended to orphans by the Turkish people have been deeply appreciated,” he said.

The ambassador highlighted ongoing projects like the Grain Corridor Agreement, signed in Türkiye, which aimed to facilitate grain exports from Ukraine.
He also commended Türkiye’s swift action in closing the straits to warships at the start of the conflict, a decision he described as crucial for the protection of Ukraine’s southern coastline.
