Ukraine triples weapons production aiming to strengthen defenses against Russia

The Strategic Industries Minister of Kyiv Oleksandr Kamyshin announced Sunday that Ukraine has tripled its weapons production in the past year, with around 500 companies now actively operating in the country’s defense sector.

Kyiv is actively seeking ways to bolster its defenses against the ongoing invasion by Moscow, which has been ongoing for two years.

This includes initiatives to enhance domestic arms manufacturing and promote innovation in the field.

During a televised conference in Kyiv, Kamyshin stated that approximately 100 state-owned companies and 400 private enterprises are engaged in these efforts. He also mentioned that Ukraine aims to significantly increase its production of ammunition this year.

In a separate statement, Ukraine’s Digital Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, highlighted that 90% of the drones used against Russian forces on the battlefield were manufactured within Ukraine.

During the conference, Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, emphasized that not a single weapon has crossed from Ukraine into the European Union throughout the entirety of Russia’s full-scale invasion, now spanning two years.
