Turks in Germany establish DAVA party for 2024 EU elections
Turkish diaspora in Germany launch a new political organization called Democratic Alliance for Diversity and Awakening (DAVA)
The Turkish diaspora in Germany have founded a new political party called the Democratic Alliance for Diversity and Awakening (DAVA).
In their written statement, DAVA emphasized that they have started their political journey by presenting a list covering all of Germany for the 2024 European Parliament elections. This marks a significant milestone as they take the initial steps toward becoming a political entity.
The leadership of DAVA, chaired by journalist Teyfik Ozcan, features prominent individuals including Fatih Zingal, a renowned lawyer in Germany; Dr. Ali Ihsan Unlu, recipient of the German Federal Order of Merit; and Dr. Mustafa Yoldas.
Reportedly, the alliance aims to position itself as a new political center, catering to citizens who feel unrepresented by the existing parties.
“Our mission is to be the strong voice of the politically unrepresented, who to date have remained largely denied in decisions,” the statement said.
“DAVA will fill this political vacuum and is resolutely committed to political inclusion. With a clear commitment to diversity and tolerance, we firmly position ourselves against nationalism, xenophobia, anti-Muslim racism, and antisemitism,” it added.
