Türkiye’s Africa policy gains momentum as Uganda invites investment in ports, shipbuilding

Türkiye’s diplomatic and economic engagement with Africa continues to yield results, as Uganda has extended an invitation to Turkish firms for investment in shipbuilding and port development to boost tourism activities in the country, according to a report by Türkiye daily.
Uganda seeks Turkish investment in maritime infrastructure
Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga, reportedly met with officials from Türkiye’s Embassy in Kampala to discuss investment opportunities.
Kadaga encouraged Turkish companies to participate in shipbuilding projects, enhance existing ports, and contribute to the expansion of tourism activities on the lake.
Following these discussions, Türkiye’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure reportedly reached out to relevant business organizations and chambers, requesting information from firms interested in investing in Uganda.

Morocco also seeks Turkish investors
Türkiye’s economic footprint in Africa is growing beyond Uganda. Recently, Morocco also extended an invitation to Turkish investors for collaboration across various sectors.
The Turkish Commercial Counsellor’s Office in Rabat and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services held a meeting to explore business partnerships.
Moroccan officials highlighted that the country’s preparations to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup have created significant investment opportunities, particularly in construction and building materials.
The government is offering incentives to boost the hospitality sector and develop the necessary infrastructure ahead of the tournament.
