As part of the cooperation agreement signed with the Andean Parliament, a delegation from the Türkiye Maarif Foundation (TMV) conducted a working visit to Peru.
Led by Mahmut Ozdil, Trustee Board Member of TMV responsible for activities in North and South America, the delegation first visited the Turkish Embassy in the capital city of Lima.
Subsequently, the delegation held meetings at San Marcos University, one of the country’s most prominent universities.
During his speech, Ozdil recalled his visit to Peru in 2023 and his discussions at the university. He mentioned that TMV would enter into concrete cooperation with San Marcos University within a few months.
The delegation then met with Leslye Carol Villon, vice president of the Andean Parliament, and Gustavo Pacheko, a member of Peru’s parliament, at the National Congress of Peru.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation agreement signed between the Andean Parliament and TMV.
“We consider this academic cooperation crucial in terms of knowledge production. Through this collaboration, both the Andean Parliament and the Turkish community will get to know each other even better,” Ozdil stated.
Later, the delegation met with Peruvian members of Parliament, representatives from universities, and students at the Andean Parliament.
During the meetings, students highlighted the increasing interest in Turkish history and culture in Peru.
