Türkiye, Guatemala celebrate 150 years of diplomacy
A ceremony marking the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Guatemala was held at the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Guatemala City.
The event began with the national anthems of both countries.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Guatemala, Beliz Celasin Rende, delivered a speech on the anniversary’s historical significance and the future prospects of the bilateral relationship.
Maria Jose Fernandez Moreno, Director of the Guatemalan Post and Telegraph Administration, presented a special commemorative stamp issued for the occasion.
Ambassador Rende and Guatemalan ministers unveiled the large stamp to the audience.
The ceremony also featured a poetry recital by students from the Turkish Republic School in Guatemala, showcasing the friendship between the two nations, and a traditional Turkish costume presentation by female students.
A highlight of the event was a performance of Mozart’s Turkish March by Turkish Republic School students, accompanied by Guatemala’s traditional marimba – which received a standing ovation.
