Turkish official highlights Turkiye’s impact on global issues at NAM
Turkiye is a problem-solving, system-improving and transformative actor with its extensive diplomatic network and political determination, says Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz
Turkiye, with its vast diplomatic network and political determination, is a problem-solving, system-improving, and transformative actor, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Uganda’s Kampala Friday.
“Turkiye, with its political commitment, is a problem-solving, system-improving and transformative actor in Africa, Asia and Latin America,” Yilmaz said.
“Throughout its history, the Non-Aligned Movement has been a leading standard bearer for a peaceful, just and credible international order. The devastation inflicted on Palestinians by Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on Gaza since Oct. 7 is in many ways unprecedented. The United Nations Security Council has been paralyzed by its inherent flaws and has been unable to even ‘call’ for a cease-fire,” he added.
Yilmaz noted Turkiye is closely following the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice under the “Genocide Convention”.
“Preventing the escalation of the conflict into a regional war is another priority. This is our main message to all interested parties both within the region and beyond to keep the situation under control,” the Vice President stressed.
Yilmaz emphasized Turkiye has been a pioneer in humanitarian aid and that this is necessary to ensure peace and security in the region.
