Turkish Airlines cancels flights to Germany amid aviation workers’ strikes
Flights connecting Istanbul and Ankara to Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hanover, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Cologne were canceled, says Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines called off some flights to and from Germany because of a strike planned for Thursday, announcing flights were canceled connecting the Turkish metropolis, Istanbul, and the capital, Ankara, to Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hanover, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Cologne.
Aviation workers are set to stage a strike at airports in Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt and Stuttgart on Thursday to demand higher wages and better working conditions.
The Union Verdi trade union said it has been negotiating on behalf of 25,000 aviation workers nationwide with the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS).
