Thousands rally outside Tunis PM’s office, denouncing the deteriorating socio-economic crisis in Tunisia

Thousands took to the streets outside the prime minister’s office in Tunis Saturday, protesting against the worsening socio-economic crisis in Tunisia.

The demonstration was organized following a call from Tunisia’s main trade union confederation, reflecting widespread discontent over deteriorating living standards.

Noureddine Taboubi, the head of the confederation, addressed the protesters, highlighting the dire economic and social conditions facing Tunisians.

Taboubi expressed concern over the state’s prioritization of servicing foreign debt at the expense of its citizens, leading to shortages of essential goods.

Taboubi also criticized the influence of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tunisia’s economic policies, accusing the government of implementing IMF directives to the detriment of ordinary Tunisians.
