Trump says he may meet with Putin ‘very soon’ to discuss Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump said that he could meet “very soon” with Vladimir Putin, stating that he believes the Russian president genuinely wants to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Potential meeting between Trump and Putin
Speaking to reporters after a flight on Air Force One, Trump was asked whether there were updates on a possible meeting in Saudi Arabia with Putin. “No time set, but it could be very soon,” he said.
Trump’s remarks come as U.S. and Russian officials prepare for initial discussions in Saudi Arabia in the coming days. While no formal meeting between Trump and Putin has been confirmed, his statement suggests growing diplomatic efforts regarding the war in Ukraine.
Trump’s position on Ukraine peace talks
Trump emphasized his commitment to achieving peace, asserting that both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are seeking to end the conflict. “I think both sides want to stop fighting,” he said, without providing further details on possible peace negotiations.
Trump has previously expressed his views on the war, indicating that he believes he could negotiate a resolution.
