Following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, Republican leaders, spearheaded by former President Donald Trump, launched a broadside attack on both Biden and Harris on Sunday.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to condemn Biden’s presidency and pledge to address what he characterized as the damage caused by Biden’s leadership. “Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was!” Trump declared. He accused Biden of obtaining the presidency through deceit and claimed that the current administration has led to significant national issues, particularly concerning border security.

Trump’s statement further criticized Biden’s handling of immigration, suggesting that the president’s policies led to an influx of unchecked individuals from various backgrounds. “We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump vowed.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a prominent Republican figure, also weighed in on the situation, attacking both Biden and Harris. Johnson condemned the Democratic Party’s handling of Biden’s candidacy, alleging that the party’s decision to remove Biden from the ballot invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans. He expressed skepticism about the prospects of the Democratic Party under Harris.

“At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened,” Johnson said on social media platform X. He criticized Harris for her role in the administration’s policy failures and border management, asserting that her performance as Vice President had been inadequate.

Johnson’s remarks painted a picture of a Democratic Party in disarray, with Harris complicit in what he described as “the largest political coverup in U.S. history.” He called for Biden’s immediate resignation and expressed confidence that the U.S. Congress and military are prepared to uphold American interests despite the current chaos.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise joined the chorus of criticism, accusing Democrats and media figures of dismissing concerns about Biden’s fitness for office as conspiracy theories. Scalise demanded accountability from those involved in what he termed a cover-up and highlighted the broader implications of the administration’s policies.

“It is not just Biden-Harris who have been polling so poorly,” Scalise said on X. “It is their entire administration’s failed, extreme agenda that is crushing hardworking families, causing record inflation, the worst border crisis in our lifetime, and chaos around the world.”
