Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President-elect Donald Trump, is scheduled to visit Greenland on Tuesday, following remarks by his father highlighting U.S. interest in the autonomous Danish territory.

Trump Jr. characterized the visit as a personal excursion rather than a political endeavor. “As someone who has traveled to some fascinating places across the globe as an outdoorsman, I’m excited to stop into Greenland for a little bit of fun this week,” he said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

According to a source familiar with the plans, Trump Jr. will arrive midday in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital. During the brief visit, he is expected to engage with locals, explore cultural landmarks, and film content for podcasting. The source clarified that the trip is not political in nature and noted that Trump Jr. will not meet with any government officials or political figures.

The visit comes shortly after President-elect Trump described Greenland as essential to U.S. national security. “For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” Trump said recently.

The comments prompted a sharp response from Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede, who reaffirmed the territory’s sovereignty. “Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland,” Egede stated. “We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.”

Greenland, a self-governing territory under the Danish monarchy, manages its own parliament and administration while maintaining representation in Denmark’s Folketing.

The timing of Trump Jr.’s visit has raised questions about whether it reflects broader geopolitical interests. However, those close to the president-elect’s son have sought to downplay speculation, emphasizing that the trip is a personal, day-long visit rather than a diplomatic mission.
