Trump announces ‘fully expedited’ permits, to ease investment regulations in US
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump pledged on Tuesday to offer “fully expedited approvals and permits” to businesses investing $1 billion or more in the United States.
Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated the permits would include unlimited access to all necessary approvals, including environmental clearances. He did not elaborate further on how the process would work but underscored his commitment to reducing bureaucratic hurdles for investors.
During his election campaign, Trump had promised a range of incentives to attract companies to the U.S., including significant tax cuts and streamlined regulatory processes. The announcement suggests a continuation of these policies, emphasizing a business-friendly environment.
“Fully expedited approvals and permits” imply a fast-tracked process for investors to secure the legal and regulatory permissions required to start or expand their operations in the U.S. This includes waiving typical delays associated with compliance checks, zoning restrictions, and environmental impact assessments.
The move is intended to attract large-scale investments by bypassing conventional red tape, although it raises questions about potential environmental and social oversight.
