Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan take steps to resolve border disputes
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed on an additional 1.1 kilometers of their disputed border
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Monday made progress in resolving their long-standing border disputes by agreeing on an additional 1.1 kilometers (0.68 miles) of their contested border.
The Tajik State Committee for National Security reported that representatives from both nations convened in Tajikistan’s Sughd Province, conducting fieldwork through topographic working groups.
The agreement on the 1.1 kilometers of shared border was finalized, and a protocol was signed.
This positive development signals ongoing peace efforts between the two countries.
Despite previous conflicts leading to loss of lives, both parties remain committed to addressing the remaining border disputes in future meetings.
