Swedish criminal networks collaborate with Iran, according to Mossad
Israeli intelligence service Mossad accuses Swedish criminal networks Foxtrot and Rumba, led by Rawa Majid and Ismail Abdo, of working for Iran
The Israeli intelligence service Mossad has accused Swedish criminal networks, Foxtrot and Rumba, and their leaders, Rawa Majid and Ismail Abdo, of working for Iran.
This information, which was first reported by DN, suggests these networks are responsible for violent activities and the promotion of terrorism across Sweden and Europe, funded and directed by Iran.
Mossad’s allegations were shared in a statement obtained by Swedish broadcaster SVT and have been widely covered by Israeli media, including The Jerusalem Post. According to Mossad, these criminal groups act as proxies for Iran, a claim that was substantiated by Swedish authorities in a joint press conference held by the government, the National Operations Department (Noa), and the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) on Thursday afternoon.
The connection between Rawa Majid and Iran came to light during an international police investigation following a grenade attack on the Israeli embassy in Stockholm in late January. Mossad asserts that this attack was ordered by Iran. Adam Isaksson Samara, spokesperson for Säpo, confirmed, “We are aware of the information,” in a statement to DN.
In addition to the grenade incident, there was a shooting targeting the Israeli embassy’s facade, which Mossad has linked to the Rumba gang and its leader, Ismail Abdo. In both attacks, young individuals with minimal network ties were dispatched to the embassy via taxi and were apprehended nearby, as per SVT sources.
Mossad also cited a recent attack on the Israeli embassy in Belgium, where two grenades were thrown at the building.
According to Israeli intelligence, Rawa Majid fled from Türkiye to Iran in September last year. This followed Türkiye’s rejection of Sweden’s extradition request for Majid, who holds dual Swedish and Turkish citizenship.
When Türkiye moved to revoke his Turkish passport, Majid left the country. Once in Iran, Mossad claims he was coerced into choosing between a lengthy prison sentence and cooperating with Iranian authorities.
