Sinwar may not be in Rafah: Critical intel

The U.S.-based New York Times claims that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar never left Khan Younis, raising the possibility that the Rafah attack may be shelved

An important intelligence report has been released concerning Yahya Sinwar, one of the Hamas leaders whom Israel has pursued for years.

According to The New York Times, Israel’s objective in entering Rafah was to apprehend Sinwar. However, the article clarified that he was not hiding in the southern city of Rafah.

According to the intelligence, Sinwar remains in the tunnels in Khan Younis in southern Gaza and has not left the area since the commencement of the offensive.

This intelligence could alter Israel’s planned offensive in Gaza,  potentially leading to adjustments in their strategy or objectives.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz remarked, “This intelligence could undermine Israel’s rationale for a significant military ground operation in Rafah.” Consequently, the plan to attack Rafah might be abandoned entirely.
