South Korea and Saudi Arabia take a significant step toward enhancing defense cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding

South Korea and Saudi Arabia have taken a significant step toward enhancing their defense cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The agreement was signed by Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) Minister Eom Dong-hwan and Saudi Assistant Defense Minister Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi in Riyadh.

The MoU aims to establish a framework for collaboration in the defense industry and joint weapons development between the two countries.

As part of the agreement, a bilateral committee will be formed to facilitate research and development of weapons systems, fostering ongoing cooperation in the defense sector.

South Korea and Saudi Arabia are expected to lay the foundation for a mutually beneficial defense partnership.

As both countries continue to face evolving security threats, collaborative efforts in research, development and technology transfer will play a pivotal role in addressing complex defense challenges.
