Russia-US consultations in Istanbul to be held at Russian Consulate on April 10

The second round of Russia-U.S. consultations will be held on April 10 at the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul, according to a statement from the Russian diplomatic mission shared with Russian media outlet TASS.

Talks to focus on diplomatic mission operations
The consultations will bring together delegations led by senior diplomats from both countries.
Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev will head the Russian side, while Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Sonata Coulter will lead the American delegation.
According to the U.S. Department of State, the agenda is limited to issues related to the functioning of diplomatic missions.
Topics concerning security, foreign policy, or the ongoing situation in Ukraine are not expected to be discussed.

Follow-up to February meeting in Istanbul
The previous round of consultations took place on Feb. 27 at the U.S. Consul General’s residence in Istanbul.
That session lasted more than six hours. Following the meeting, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the discussions were “substantive and businesslike,” and both sides agreed to continue dialogue through this bilateral channel.
Istanbul hosts continued bilateral engagement
The continuation of consultations in Istanbul highlights the city’s ongoing role as a neutral ground for Russia-U.S. diplomatic dialogue.
The setting provides a platform for technical discussions as both sides navigate a complex diplomatic relationship shaped by tensions but sustained through established communication channels.
