Russia launches attack on civilian settlements in Mykolaiv, Ukraine
Russia targeted civilian settlements in the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv using drones launched from the occupied regions of Kherson and Crimea in Ukraine
On Sunday morning, Russian drones targeted the city of Mykolaiv, causing a hotel to catch fire. Ukrainian authorities swiftly extinguished the fire caused by the Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 launched at the city, according to a social media post by the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
Mykola Oleshchuk, commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, said that Russia fired nine drones at the region overnight and into Sunday morning, four of which were of the Shahed type and five of which were not.
Unidentified drones fired from occupied portions of Kherson shot down one over Mykolaiv, while four Shahed drones launched from occupied Crimea intercepted over Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and Kirovohrad. said Oleshchuk.
The attack damaged the hotel’s heat-generating infrastructure facility along with cars and the windows of another hotel.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
“The owners of the hotel have just recovered from the attacks that took place in 2022. A children’s sports school and a stadium are located nearby. No military facilities,” Mykolaiv Oblast’s Governor Vitalii Kim said.
