Deputy foreign minister Ahmet Yildiz announces that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to visit Iraq before end of April as part of a major diplomatic trip

Turkish deputy foreign minister announced on Tuesday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to visit the country before the end of April as part of a major diplomatic trip.

Remarking from Baghdad, Ahmet Yildiz said that Erdogan’s next visit is being planned. Erdogan will be visiting the Iraqi capital for the first time in over ten years as his last official trip to Bagdad was in 2012.

Yildiz said he would talk with representatives of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry during his visit, with an emphasis on examining and enhancing the two countries’ bilateral ties. The agenda will also include talks on how to get ready for the much-awaited visit by President Erdogan as well as future ministerial affairs.

Easing connectivity and promoting economic development between the two countries is the goal of the Development Road Project, which is one of the main subjects anticipated to be discussed during the diplomatic negotiations. To drive sustainable growth, corridors, and development paths play a crucial role, as Yildiz said in underscoring the importance of this initiative.

“These roads provide connectivity, bring vitality to the economy, and provide trust between countries,” said Yildiz. Emphasizing again how excited both countries are about the project and expressing hope for the significant advantages it may bring.

Tensions about the possible results and developments that may arise from this important diplomatic interaction between Türkiye and Iraq are growing as plans go forward for Erdogan’s impending visit.
