President Erdogan participates in mosque opening in Guinea via live link

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the opening ceremony of the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Mosque in Conakry, Guinea, via live video link.
The mosque, named after Erdogan, spans a 3,200 square-meter area and is designed to strengthen ties between Türkiye and Guinea.
“Mosques are not merely structures built with stone and mortar; in our belief, they are works constructed with intellect, faith, and conscience,” Erdogan said during the ceremony. “This valuable structure, built on a vast 3,200-square-meter area, will stand as a symbol of our brotherhood.”

A symbol of brotherhood between Türkiye and Guinea
Erdogan extended his deepest greetings and affection to the people of Guinea, stating that the opening marks not just the establishment of a mosque, but the construction of a heartfelt bond between the two nations.
“Today, we are not only inaugurating a mosque but also a bridge of brotherhood built from heart to heart,” Erdogan remarked.
The mosque, designed to accommodate 2,100 worshippers, is noted for its stunning architecture and reflects the rich Turkish-Islamic tradition.
“The mosque is designed to captivate with its architecture, decoration, and landscaping, embodying Ottoman mosque architecture with its single-dome and portico style. Through this work, we aimed to reflect the rich ornamentation of the Turkish-Islamic tradition in Guinea,” Erdogan added.

Acknowledging contributions to the mosque’s construction
Erdogan also thanked everyone involved in the project, from workers to architects, engineers, and the government of Guinea.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the construction of this mosque, from the workers to the architects and engineers. I deeply appreciate the support from the authorities in Guinea,” he said.
He expressed hope that the call to prayer from the mosque’s minarets would bring peace and tranquility to the hearts of the people in Guinea, further strengthening the spirit of solidarity between the two countries.
“I hope that the call to prayer, the Azan, from the minarets of this mosque will bring peace and calm to the hearts of those in Guinea and further solidify our brotherhood and solidarity,” Erdogan concluded.
