Poland’s Law and Justice Party decided to support Donald Trump in the presidential elections

On Thursday, Polish media outlets reported that the leader of Poland’s main opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS), intends to throw support behind former U.S. President Donald Trump in the upcoming U.S. presidential elections later this year.

PiS, a significant opposition force in the country, has sparked controversy with reports of its intention to support Trump in the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.

Led by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, PiS aims to leverage its influence on the European stage by appointing Dominik Tarczynski, an outspoken advocate of Trump’s policies, as the chairman of the PiS delegation in the European Parliament.

This move follows PiS’ criticism of the ruling party for its alleged closeness to Germany and threats to reduce aid to Ukraine, stances that echo Trump’s foreign policy. The decision reflects PiS’ strategic calculus to bolster ties with Trump, potentially influencing U.S. and Poland relations.

PiS is a European Conservatives and Reformists member who heads Poland’s United Rights coalition.
