Palestinian Ministry and ISM accuse Israel of deliberate killing of Turkish-American activist
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry and the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) have accused Israeli politicians of orchestrating the deliberate killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a Turkish-American activist, by Israeli forces during a protest in the occupied West Bank.
Eygi, a volunteer with ISM, was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper on Friday while participating in a demonstration against Israeli settlements in Beita, near Nablus. The ISM claims that Eygi was deliberately targeted, describing her killing as a calculated act by Israeli forces.
According to the ISM, Eygi was standing at a distance from the main protest crowd, near an olive tree, when she was shot by a sniper positioned on a rooftop. The organization asserts that Eygi’s death was not an accidental casualty but a targeted attack, pointing to the sniper’s precision as evidence of intent.
Türkiye openly condemned the killing, while the United States has not issued a formal condemnation calling it a “tragic” incident.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry echoed these concerns, suggesting that the killing was part of a broader strategy by Israeli officials to suppress dissent and escalate violence against Palestinians and their supporters. The Ministry condemned the act as “an integral part of the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation” and held Israeli political leaders responsible for sanctioning such violence.
