A Pakistani high court has suspended the convictions of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. They were sentenced to 14 years in prison in a corruption case for not disclosing the details of gifts received during his premiership and for selling the gifts.
According to reports in the national media, the Islamabad High Court considered Khan’s appeal against his and his wife’s convictions.

The next hearing has been postponed until after the Ramadan holiday.
Khan, who has been sentenced in various cases, will continue to be in prison. His wife Bushra Bibi will also continue to be under house arrest.

In Pakistan, the court sentenced Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who are accused of “disclosing state secrets” and are being tried in custody, to 10 years in prison each on Jan. 30.
On Jan. 31, Khan and his wife were also found guilty in a corruption case for not disclosing the details of gifts received during his premiership and for selling the gifts and were sentenced to 14 years in prison each.
Additionally, on Feb. 3, the court sentenced them to seven years in prison each for illegal marriage.
The imposition of prison sentences on Khan shortly before the general elections on Feb. 8 had drawn attention.
