A recent poll in the United States shows that 29.4% of Muslim voters plan to vote for Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election on November 5.

The poll, conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) from August 25-27, surveyed 1,115 registered Muslim voters in the U.S.

Harris emerged as the leading candidate among Muslim voters, with 29.4% support. She was closely followed by Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein, who garnered 29.1%.

Republican candidate Donald Trump ranked third with 11.2%, while Dr. Cornel West of the People’s Party followed with 4.2%.

The poll revealed that 16.5% of Muslim voters remain undecided at this stage.

Interestingly, in swing states—those that could determine the outcome of the election—Stein led Harris among Muslim voters. The Green Party candidate topped the polls in Arizona with 35%, in Michigan with 40%, and in Wisconsin with 44%. Harris, however, led in Georgia with 43% and in Pennsylvania with 37%.

Trump received his highest support in Nevada, where he secured 27%, slightly ahead of Harris, who received 26%.

When broken down by gender, 29% of male Muslim voters expressed support for Harris, while 34% of female Muslim voters said they would vote for Stein.

Ethnically, Harris received significant backing from Black Muslim voters, with 55.3% supporting her. Meanwhile, Stein was preferred by 32.7% of white, Arab, and Turkish Muslim voters.

Commenting on the poll results, CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert S. McCaw stated, “These new poll findings clearly show that American Muslim voters have the potential to determine outcomes in several key battleground states and remain open to being won over in the 2024 elections.”

McCaw emphasized, “Presidential candidates should not ignore the issues most important to Muslim Americans. Underestimating Muslim voters could be a major mistake, especially in swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and Wisconsin, where elections are often won by narrow margins. It is time for candidates to dedicate more time and resources to understanding Muslim voters’ concerns.”

An estimated 2.5 million Muslims live in the United States.
