Negotiation option eliminated in Sudan amid ongoing civil war
Sudan’s Sovereignty Council President Abdulfetah Al-Burhan said they will not negotiate with rebels
In a statement made on Saturday, Sudan’s Sovereignty Council President Abdulfettah Al-Burhan said they will not negotiate with rebels.
In Sudan, where the civil war began in April 2023, clashes between the rebel Rapid Support Forces and army continue.
Due to the conflict, more than 7 million civilians have been displaced in Sudan, with over 12,000 civilians killed.
In Sudan, where the risk of famine is also increasing, the international community has attempted to pressure the parties into negotiations, but ceasefire talks in the past have not yielded results.
On Saturday, Burhan announced that new negotiations would not be held. In his statement, Burhan said, “Our army will not retreat. We will not be defeated. There is no peace for the rebels.”
Additionally, Burhan stated that the Sudanese Army had thwarted a conspiracy aimed at destroying him.
