Melania Trump calls for unity following attempted assassination of ex-president
Former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump urged Americans on Sunday to come together in the aftermath of an attempt to assassinate her husband, former President Donald Trump.
“Dawn is here again. Let us reunite. Now. This morning, ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence,” she stated in a message.
The winds of change have arrived. For those of you who cry in support, I thank you. I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide – thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or a woman with a loving family

The FBI identified Thomas Matthew Crooks on Saturday as the suspected shooter in the attempted assassination of the ex-president during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bureau continues to investigate the shooting, which resulted in minor injuries to Trump.
Footage showed Trump raising his hand to the right side of his head, with blood visible on the right side of his face as he was quickly escorted from the stage.
Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, confirmed that the former president “is fine” following the incident.
The Secret Service, responsible for Trump’s security, reported that the shooter fired from an elevated position overlooking the stage where Trump was speaking. Apart from the shooter, one spectator was killed, and two others sustained critical injuries. The shooter reportedly used an AR-15-style rifle.
