At least 11 people were injured in a mass shooting late Wednesday night at the Amazura nightclub, located at 91-12 144th Place, in New York, United States.

The incident, which occurred around 11:20 p.m. on January 1, prompted a heavy police response and the establishment of a large crime scene around the venue.

According to initial reports from law enforcement sources, several victims were wounded in the shooting, and at least three individuals were transported to a local hospital after walking in for treatment. Authorities have yet to provide further details on the condition of the victims or the exact circumstances of the shooting.

Eyewitnesses and local reporters took to social media, describing a chaotic scene as a massive police presence surrounded the club. One reporter on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, wrote, “At least 13 victims shot at the Amazura Night Club… Massive crime scene set up. Unknown condition of the victims.”

Motive unknown

Emergency responders were called to the scene, with sources reporting that as many as 10 ambulances were dispatched to assist the injured. It is unclear how many suspects are involved, though initial reports on the Citizen app indicate that two suspects may still be at large.

The Amazura nightclub, a popular venue located near the Jamaica Long Island Rail Road station, has been the site of the mass shooting, which unfolded amid a violent day in the U.S.

On the same day, a terrorist attack in New Orleans claimed the lives of at least 15 people, and a fatal Tesla car explosion occurred outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel, killing one person and injuring seven others.

New York City police are actively investigating the shooting, and no further details have been released as of yet. A spokesperson for the NYPD urged the public to avoid speculating on the motives behind the incident, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.
