Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared that he will not allow a civil war to erupt in the country following the post-election protests. During a press conference at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, Maduro stated that malicious protesters causing violence will not be tolerated and that the government is aware of who is funding these actions.

Maduro emphasized that Venezuela’s economy is under attack, stating, “Venezuela will not fall into the hands of imperialism, fascism, or criminals. We will not permit a civil war to start in our country. We want everything to remain within the constitutional framework. We do not wish to pursue other methods to achieve a revolution.”

Without directly naming the United States, Maduro blamed the unrest on external forces, asserting, “The people know this. However, if the empire wishes to advance its criminal plan, we will defend our nation to the end. We will protect all our people, including workers, employees, traders, and citizens. I want to thank our security forces for their efforts.”

Maduro also highlighted a “vicious” media campaign against his government, calling out Elon Musk, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Argentine President Javier Milei, Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, and former Colombian presidents Ivan Duque and Alvaro Uribe, as well as the Spanish Vox party.

Showing journalists some videos from the protests, Maduro described the situation as a “vile” and “dirty” conspiracy.

Regarding the election results, Maduro announced that the government would release all records they have, stating, “How much more evidence do we need to provide? Why do you want to drag a country into war? Why this campaign against Venezuela? I am not afraid of lies and am here to confront the truth. I have never been and will never be a CIA agent.”

Accusing the U.S. of destabilizing Venezuela, Maduro added, “You are responsible for the wars and deaths in Afghanistan, Libya, and Iraq.”
