Lufthansa extends flight suspension to Israel amid ongoing tensions
German airline Lufthansa announced on Monday that it has extended its suspension of flights to Israel until November 25, citing the ongoing crisis in the region. This decision affects all airlines within the Lufthansa Group, including Eurowings, Swiss, Austrian, and Brussels Airlines.
In a company statement, Lufthansa indicated that passengers impacted by the flight cancellations will have the option to rebook their flights for a later date or receive a full refund for their tickets.
Initially, Lufthansa had suspended flights to Tel Aviv until November 10 but has now adjusted its schedule in response to the evolving situation. Additionally, the airline has canceled flights to Tehran until January 31, 2025, and to Beirut until February 28, 2025.
The extended flight suspensions reflect Lufthansa’s ongoing concerns regarding safety and operational feasibility in the Middle East amid escalating conflicts. Tensions have heightened following Israel’s attack on military targets in Iran on Saturday night, a response to an Iranian missile attack earlier in October. Tehran has warned that this incident would lead to “harsh consequences.”
