Lebanese FM calls for global solidarity amid Israeli threats

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib on Friday urged countries to show solidarity with Lebanon in the face of Israeli threats of war.
Bou Habib’s comments came in response to recent warnings from several countries advising their nationals to leave or avoid travel to Lebanon due to rising tensions with Israel.
He called on these nations to replace statements that “cause concern among citizens and visitors” with messages of solidarity, demonstrating support for Lebanon.
Bou Habib also urged countries to intensify efforts to pressure Israel to halt its military actions against Lebanon.
Several countries, including Germany, Canada, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, and the U.S., have recently advised their nationals to leave or avoid travel to Lebanon due to the escalating situation.
In recent weeks, tensions between the Israeli army and the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah have heightened, raising fears of a potential full-scale war. This follows Tel Aviv’s approval of operational plans for a “wide-scale attack” against Lebanon.
The conflict along Lebanon’s border with Israel has intensified amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. This escalation comes as Tel Aviv continues its offensive against the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in over 37,700 casualties since Oct. 7.
