Key industries backing Donald Trump and Kamala Harris
As the 2024 presidential race continues to intensify, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have drawn substantial financial support from contributors and various political action committees (PACs), according to the latest fundraising data.
Both candidates have seen considerable backing from large contributions, though each appeals to distinct industry and demographic supporters.
Harris, who took over the Biden campaign this summer, has raised more than $1 billion through her campaign committee and affiliated PACs, with significant donations from Future Forward USA, totaling $394 million.
Other notable supporters include American Bridge 21st Century with contributions exceeding $31 million, and Democracy PAC, adding over $15 million to her campaign. Harris’s campaign reflects high support from Democratic/Liberal sectors and retired donors, showing a strong emphasis on ideological and single-issue donations amounting to $242 million.
Meanwhile, Trump has raised approximately $1.07 billion, with the bulk of funding stemming from PACs such as Make America Great Again Inc. and America PAC, which contributed over $331 million and $130 million, respectively.
A substantial portion of Trump’s contributions came from the securities and investment sector and Republican-aligned groups, alongside significant support from billionaire Timothy Mellon, who donated $125 million, and SpaceX, with $74 million in support.
While large contributions dominate Trump’s funding, making up around 69% of his total, Harris’s campaign has seen nearly equal support from both large donors and small individual contributions.
As of their latest filings, both candidates continue to retain sizable cash reserves, with Trump holding over $116 million on hand and Harris close behind with approximately $166 million.
