Israeli rappers Ness and Stilla face backlash for their song ‘Harbu Darbu,’ which calls for violence against Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and Mia Khalifa over their pro-Palestine stance

A recent song by Israeli rappers Ness and Stilla has sparked significant controversy because of its incendiary content.

The track, titled “Harbu Darbu” was released three months ago and has garnered over 18 million views on YouTube. It also became an unofficial anthem among some Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers.

The song, performed by Nessya Levi, 21, and Dor Soroker,25, explicitly calls for violence against celebrities like Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and Mia Khalifa, who have expressed pro-Palestine sentiments. The aggressive lyrics suggest retribution against these figures and are set to a drill beat.

Ness, a half-Russian and newcomer to the music scene, previously served in IDF for a year, shorter than the usual two-year requirement for Israeli women. Her usual repertoire includes lighter themes like makeup and fashion.

On the other hand, Stilla is a more seasoned artist and has often tackled serious issues like mental health and drug use in his work.

Their collaboration, however, marks a stark departure into politically charged and violent themes. The song “Harbu Darbu,” Hebrew for “mayhem,” features lines like “Every dog gets what he deserves in the end” and names the celebrities it targets.

It has been interpreted as a rallying cry, supporting IDF actions against Hamas following an attack on Oct. 7 that led to significant casualties.

The song’s release and popularity come amid ongoing tensions in the Gaza Strip, with high civilian casualties reported.

Leaders like U.S. President Joe Biden have expressed concerns over the humanitarian impact of the conflict and have urged for measures to protect civilians.
