Israel to summon ambassadors of nations that backed Palestinian UN Membership at UNSC
Israel’s Foreign Ministry is set to summon ambassadors from nations including France and Japan that voted for the UN Security Council’s upgrade of Palestinian Authority status
Israel’s Foreign Ministry, under the directive of Foreign Minister Israel Katz, will summon ambassadors from countries that voted in favor of upgrading the Palestinian Authority’s status to full member status in the UN Security Council.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry, following the instructions of Foreign Minister Israel Katz, will summon the ambassadors of the countries that voted in the United Nations Security Council in favor of upgrading the status of the Palestinian Authority to full member status in the UN.
France, Japan, South Korea, Malta, the Slovak Republic, and Ecuador
Ambassadors from France, Japan, South Korea, Malta, the Slovak Republic, and Ecuador will be summoned for a démarche on Sunday, during which a strong protest will be presented to them.
“The foreign ministry will summon for a protest talk the ambassadors of the countries that voted in the Security Council in favour of upgrading the status of the Palestinians in the UN,” spokesman Oren Marmorstein said in a post on X Saturday.
Additionally, an identical protest will be presented to the countries that voted for the Algerian proposal, which was rejected, to upgrade the status of the Palestinian Authority.
‘Call to recognize a Palestinian state is a prize for terrorism’
“The unambiguous message that will be delivered to the ambassadors: A political gesture to the Palestinians and a call to recognize a Palestinian state – six months after the October 7 massacre – is a prize for terrorism,” the Foreign Ministry stressed.
“Israel will not agree to the establishment of a terror state that will endanger its citizens.”
The Ministry added, “It will also be clarified to the ambassadors that instead of making political gestures that reward the Hamas terrorist organization, the countries should apply pressure on Hamas to immediately release the 133 women and men being held hostage.”
“The international pressure should be applied on Hamas, which perpetrated the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and continues to reject every deal that would lead to the release of the hostages and a humanitarian pause for the residents of Gaza.”
Israel’s ongoing Gaza onslaught: over 34,000 Palestinians killed, nearly 77,000 injured
Israel has said it is preparing an offensive against the city of Rafah, where some 1.2 million Palestinians are taking shelter after fleeing the conflict in other parts of the enclave.
The recent reported Israeli attack on the Iranian province of Isfahan, following Iran’s direct attack on Israel, has only clouded hopes of a peace breakthrough in Gaza.
Flouting an International Court of Justice provisional ruling, Israel continues its onslaught on the Gaza Strip where over 34,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and nearly 77,000 injured since Oct. 7, according to Palestinian health authorities.
Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by Hamas which killed 1,139 people with dozens of captives held in Gaza.
The Israeli war on Gaza has pushed 85% of the territory’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
