Iranian official says retaliation to be ‘more destructive’ than latest operations
In a recent statement, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission indicated that a military response to Israeli actions is forthcoming. The official announced that the National Security Council has reached a final decision regarding the military answer to what he described as the “Zionist regime.”
He stated, “The response to Israel will be more destructive than the ‘True Promise 2’ operation, and we will coordinate with resistance forces in the region.”
These comments come in the wake of Israeli strikes, which have heightened tensions in the region. The official emphasized that the timing and execution of the military response depend on the Iranian armed forces, noting that operational plans are currently being developed. “The Council’s members agree on the necessity of a military response to Israel,” he said.
The Iranian official also addressed government sources that suggested an attempt to lure Iran into a war, asserting that the decision to respond to Israel lies solely with the National Security Council.
“Some officials in the government may advocate for restraint, but they have no role in the decision-making process. The military response to the Zionist regime is determined by the National Security Council,” he added.
In asserting Iran’s right to retaliate, the official referenced international law, claiming that the recent Israeli attacks on Iran represent a significant transgression.
“The enemy has committed great wrongs against Iran. Under international law, we now have the right to respond. This allows us to conduct new operations against the Zionist regime. It is our natural right, and we will respond to the Zionist regime in the future,” he concluded.
