Iranian Presidency used the Ottoman Empire flag instead of the Turkish flag to officially thank Türkiye for its condolences and support during the hard times suffered by the country following Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s tragic demise in a helicopter crash along with eight other officials.

The official website of the Iranian Presidency published a message thanking countries and officials for their support and condolences to the late President Raisi.

“Presidents and officials of over 50 countries, international institutions and organizations and some regional personalities have sent messages to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the government and the people of our country expressing their condolences after the martyrdom of the president in the helicopter crash,” the message on the official website said.

On the other hand, the Persian version of the statement didn’t include Turkish flag at all.

The official website of the Iranian Presidency also included the flags of the  40 countries being mentioned. However, it was noticed that the Turkish flag, which was among the flags placed around Ebrahim Raisi’s photograph, was incorrect.

The flag of the Ottoman Empire was used instead of the Turkish flag.
