According to state news agency IRNA, Iranian authorities have decided to hold presidential elections on June 28 after President Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash.
According to the report, acting President Mohammad Mokhber, along with other leaders including the head of the judiciary and the parliament speaker, concurred on the date. The decision must be approved by the Guardian Council, as per Iran’s constitution, which mandates a new election within 50 days.
The IRNA report specifies that candidates can register from May 30 to June 3, with campaigning scheduled from June 12 to June 27.
