The Israeli military reports around 40 missiles launched from southern Lebanon toward Israel, as tensions rise with Hezbollah, leading to cross-border attacks and fatalities on both sides

The Israeli military has reported approximately 40 missiles launched from southern Lebanon toward Israel.

According to the Lebanese Hezbollah group, the missiles targeted the Meron air control base on Mount Meron in the Upper Galilee area. Sirens have been activated in Israeli towns, including Sasa, Kfar Hoshen, Dovif, and Safsufa.

Tensions between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces have been escalating since the early days of the Gaza conflict. Recent weeks have seen an uptick in cross-border attacks resulting in casualties on both sides.

Yesterday saw a significant escalation as Israel carried out its first strike on eastern Lebanon since the conflict began, resulting in the deaths of two individuals on the outskirts of Buday village near Baalbek, a Hezbollah stronghold in the Bekaa Valley.

Today, both sides have confirmed the launch of numerous rockets from Lebanon toward northern Israel.

In response to the attack in the Bekaa Valley, Hezbollah announced that it launched a barrage of rockets at an Israeli military base. The Israeli military confirmed this action.

Hezbollah also reported that its fighters successfully downed an Israeli drone over its stronghold in southern Lebanon yesterday.

Israel intercepted a missile fired by Hezbollah at the drone, which landed close to a synagogue in a town near Nazareth in northern Israel. Additionally, a senior Hezbollah officer in the Hujair Valley region of southern Lebanon, Hassan Salami, was killed by a missile fired from an Israeli fighter jet.
