UN chief calls for solidarity, peace during Eid al-Adha
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres extended Eid al-Adha greetings Sunday, with solidarity to Muslims around the world who are unable to celebrate the festival with their loved ones because of ongoing conflicts.
“This #EidAlAdha, I extend my solidarity with all Muslims who, because of conflict, violence & division, will not be able to celebrate with their loved ones,” Guterres said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“May the values of solidarity & empathy that this occasion inspires guide us toward compassion & peace for all,” he added.
The Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, began in Türkiye and many other countries on Sunday.
