Joint training sessions are already scheduled, with Greek military forces gearing up for participation in India’s national exercises and vice versa. Additionally, both nations’ armies are poised to join international drills in Athens and New Delhi, notably “Iniochos” and “Tarang Shakti.”

Anticipating broader collaboration, the agreement envisions military personnel exchanges and joint efforts in intelligence, technology, and innovation.

This landmark pact follows recent diplomatic and military engagements, including visits by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Athens and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to New Delhi.

Next week, Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff Dimitrios Houpsis will visit India to meet his counterpart General Anil Saouhan and other dignitaries. Discussions will encompass defense issues, military equipment collaboration, and Greece’s role in operations like Aspides in the Red Sea, which is of significant interest to India.

Implementation of the Defense Cooperation Agreement is imminent, with Greek fighter jets poised for a historic visit to India. Confirming their commitment, the Hellenic Air Force will participate in India’s “Tarang Shakti” exercise with four aircraft and accompanying personnel, reciprocating India’s involvement in Greece’s “Iniochos” last year.
