Google sacks 20 more employees who protested against the $1.2 billion cloud computing project called the Nimbus Project with the Israeli government
Google fired 20 more employees following their participation in protests against the company’s agreement with Israel regarding cloud computing services.
The company’s employees staged a sit-in protest outside its offices in New York and California following Google’s agreement for the $1.2 billion Nimbus Project with Israel, which is facing trial for genocide due to the massacres in Gaza.
Number of sacked employees reaches 50
While nine Google employees were arrested during the protests, the number of personnel sacked for calling on the company not to support genocide has reached 50.
Google’s reply
CEO Sundar Pichai warned staff about the limitations of the company’s open culture. Pichai reminded employees that while the company encourages open debate and discussion, there are limits to this.
The CEO urged his employees to refrain from political discussions at work, stating that it is a crucial time for the company.
On the other hand, Google’s global security chief, Chris Rackow, claimed that the actions of the protesting employees were “unacceptable” and “extremely false”.
