Germany and Mongolia will establish a strategic partnership to intensify cooperation in various policy areas, focusing on the mining industry

Germany and Mongolia are set to establish a strategic partnership, intensifying collaboration across various policy domains, focusing on the mining industry.

The formalization of this agreement is scheduled to occur during the visit to Germany’s president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to Ulaanbaatar, with the signing expected on Wednesday.

The critical aspects of this partnership include Mongolia’s support for Germany’s pursuit of a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. In return, Germany aims to assist East Asia countries with judicial and legal reform.

The official impetus for signing the agreement is the commemoration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Mongolia.

President Steinmeier’s sixth visit to Asia is a testament to both countries’ importance in fostering stronger ties.

Accompanied by Foreign Minister Tobias Lindner, the delegation aims to solidify the foundation for an enduring and mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
