Flights canceled as Belgium faces nationwide general strike over labor reforms

All departing flights from Brussels’ two main airports were canceled Monday, bringing Belgium to a standstill due to a nationwide general strike protesting government labor reforms.
The 24-hour industrial action, the second of its kind this year, heavily impacted both Brussels Airport and Brussels South Charleroi Airport, with all outbound flights grounded as staff participated in the strike.

All incoming flights canceled
Brussels South Charleroi Airport also canceled all incoming flights. While some arrivals at Brussels Airport may proceed, passengers are urged to check with their airlines for updates.
The strike’s effects extend beyond air travel, as local train services across Belgium are facing significant disruptions. However, Eurostar services, connecting Brussels with cities like London and Paris, remain unaffected for now.

This protest is a direct response to proposed labor reforms by the Belgian government. Workers and unions argue the changes will harm working conditions and job security.
Travelers to or from Brussels and other parts of Belgium on March 31 are advised to prepare for delays and possible cancellations across various forms of transport.
