Five people were shot on Tuesday at Risbergska School in Orebro, Sweden, prompting a large police response and a lockdown of the area.

Authorities described the situation as “serious” and warned the public to stay away from the Vasthaga district or remain indoors. Six ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the injured to the hospital.

“We have heard several shots outside,” one person trapped inside the school told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet.

Police confirmed that officers were shot at during the operation but did not report any casualties among law enforcement. The nature of the attack remains unclear, and the police have not released information on a suspect.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid the local hospital, where the injured are being treated. The hospital has cleared its emergency and intensive care units to accommodate the victims. Officials also announced that an information center will be opened for relatives seeking updates.
